ATCSW and UNICEF Advance Collaboration on Child Protection Training in the Context of Migration in ASEAN
On 15 May 2026, ATCSW welcomed Ms. Venera Urbaeva from the UNICEF Centre of Excellence, Child Protection and Migration, to the ATCSW office at the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security in Bangkok for a fruitful discussion on future collaboration. Ms. Rosal Fischer, Child Protection, Climate & Mobility/Migration Specialist, and Dr. Nara Khamkhom from the Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, also joined the meeting online.
The discussion focused on future collaboration, particularly follow-up training initiatives building upon the “ASEAN Regional Workshop on Strengthening Cross-Border Cooperation, Protection, and Care of Children in the Context of Migration,” held in Bali Province, Indonesia.
Both parties explored the possibility of developing interactive training programmes for the social service workforce working in child protection in the context of migration, with the aim of strengthening regional capacity and cross-border cooperation in ASEAN.
